Legend of the Condor Heroes Episode 11 Recap

On a clammy evening, Bao XiRuo trampled the rocky mountain roads by herself. With only a dimly lit lantern, she was both agitated and cold. She was searching for her husband.

She came upon the dark woods and heard a familiar voice lamenting — that myopic old fool whom she stayed fanatically in love with was talking to Mu NianCi.

She held her breath to listen:

Legend of the Condor Heroes Episode 10 Recap

Has there been a time when you just want to curl up and die? Oh let Chicken Little freak out at the falling sky; let the treacherous snake tempt Eve, nothing matters because you are the victim of destiny and you deserve the attention AND the right to abuse the attention as you bemoan life’s unfairness while secretly enjoying it. Alright, maybe you haven’t felt that way, but our Yang Kang in his ripen teen-age certainly is.

Legend of the Condor Heroes Episode 8 Recap

One day 18 years ago, I was being chased by a group of Song solders. They pursued me like a cluster of buzzing flies. …

Within Temptation – Somewhere

Mu NianCi jumped onto the palace roof, not knowing where she is, not knowing where her father is. She has one goal in mind — to find the antidote for the taoist.

… I was deeply wounded. Out of desperation, I saw a shabby wooden hut and hid myself among the hays. And then, I was unconscious…

Legend of the Condor Heroes Episode 6 Recap

If women are considered fast-changing creatures, (by men of course;) then Yang Kang must have gotten more fickleness that he needed when he inherited that X chromosome from his mother. Just this morning, he had drawn an invisible line, no, a wall, between his haughty self and Mu NianCi; by dusk, he has written her a letter, urgently inviting her over. Maybe the testosterone of a teenage boy (I know he doesn’t look it, but he is still in his teen years) follows the circadian rhythm of a diurnal.

Legend of the Condor Heroes Episode 5 Recap

As if being the son of the crown prince doesn’t give him enough power and wealth, Yang Kang’s ambition is insatiable. He wants to out-kung fu all the wushu practitioners (because they are not yet master level) that came to WanYan KongLie out of greed and become the commander in control.

Ambition aside, the itching desire to confirm that he is WanYan HongLie’s son probes harder than usual. He hurts a bird on purpose and brings the poor thing to his mom as an excuse to press about the truth. Bao XiRuo hesitates, then decides to take evasive action.

Right when you start to think that I have put this drama out of my mind, I come back with a vengeance. 😀

Opening Theme Song:

“Stop!” Guo Jing chases after the little burglar and falls face first onto the dirt. The beggar runs back and squats down before Guo Jing, “Are you alright?” (s)he asks. “Um.” Guo Jing gets up. “Ok!” says the burglar before running away again. Guo Jing takes a few steps after her and stops all together, “Hey, little one, no need to run. I’m giving them (the personal belongings) to you!” Having said that, Guo Jing finds a place and squads down. The beggar runs back and drops the belongings on the floor, one on top of the other. She puts one hand on her hips and another points at Guo Jing’s nose, “What’s with you?! I stole your belonging, you should chase after me! Once you catch me, you should beat me up! Let’s start over!” She stretches her arms to drag him up.

Legend of the Condor Heroes Episode 1-3 Recap

(If you are unfamiliar with the story, the character guide can come in handy.)

The story started 18 years ago when a Taoist patriot Qiu ChuJi stumbled into Niu Jia Village as he fled from a group of Jin soldier’s chase for killing a Jin.

At the time of Song Dynasty, the corrupt and weak government, consisting mostly of Han people, lost grip on the entire country. Consequently, the Jin people from northern parts of China utilizes the opportunity to seize control with the ambition to one day expand and concur the entire country. Patriotic feels are high on both ends as the Hans despised the Jins for rebelling and the Jins deemed themselves superior to Han. Killing each other back and forth was common place.

During Qiu ChuJi’s brief life-on-the-run, he met the decedents of two heroes – Yang TieXin and Guo XiaoTian, both of which have pregnant wives. The three men were such perfect matches in personality, they became sworn brothers under the moon with a tank of wine. Before leaving, Qiu ChuJi gave Yang and Guo each a sharp dagger to honor the kinship. On each of the daggers, he carved the names of the unborn babies: Guo Jing and Yang Kang, then switched them so the Yang family holds the dagger to the Guo descendant, vice versa – a ritualistic act, typically performed between lovers. The intention behind such an act is to truly unite the brotherhood in blood through the matrimony of the babies if they were to born in opposite gender. However, if luck has it that they are both the same sex, they will follow the footsteps of their fathers and become sworn siblings.
