Chinese Paladin 3: Episodes 36-end

Episode 36

Last time we discovered that MaoMao was feeling under the weather for butchering parts of him body in exchange for food (yes you read that right). Jin Tian, who’s got a bucket load of self-loathing, frustration, and guilt to bear himself, was too miserable to take notice. So devastated was this yesterday’s warrior God, that he decided upon poisoning everyone to end their pain. But LongKui saw through the ruse and volunteered to try the poisoned food first.

Chinese Paladin 3: Episodes 33-35

Episode 33

New development on the block: The fish bone paved a way to the underwater palace and… it’s empty! Well, practically empty save for a big screen LCD blank canvas and a statue. The statue is the goddess Shui Bi and the canvas is like the flattened version of the crystal ball, minus the mystique or the spark. It shows the past, the future, AND it reminds us, the viewers, what had happened since episode 1, for the umpteenth time.

Episode 30

Off they go to see the baby.

And the story went something like this:

100 years ago when ChangQing was still Lin YePing, jealousy destroyed his marriage with ZiXuan. Days after she left him, she found out she was pregnant. But civil unrest got in the way and she was never given a chance to divulge the good news (even if she did, he might’ve thought the child was conceived with another man — in the heat of the moment). Then he came charging to her part of town in search for answers. Alas, he died and never learned about the baby.

Chinese Paladin 3: Episode 27

Amidst the fogs and debris, a lone figure makes her way forward. Up ahead is a modest palace, the sanction of the demon lord ChongLou. The figure hesitates for a second, then she hurries onward.

The dimly lit palace is decorated with mirrors and camp fires in every corner, giving the host an all around view of himself. If ZiXuan hadn’t met ChongLou, she would’ve mistook him for a narcissistic, self-possessed man. Instead, she pities him. Tough hailed lord, ChongLou is but a lonely man whose power and temper keep love at bay; a man who fights with his own reflection in the mirror.

Episode 23

It’s no surprise Jin Tian’s promise that nothing will change between the siblings makes LongKui feel no less threatened.

She now sits before the box of evil, gnawing her fingernails and contemplating. The box stirs. Embarrassed from being regarded by a fair princess with such naked intensity (or, may I perversely suggest, interest)? Nay, it’s the strong wave of jealousy emanating from LongKui that excites it so.

Episode 20

Had XueJian seen this ( ↑ ), she would’ve kick open the door in a burst — be there magic shield or not –, slap Jin Tian silly for being a petulant, indolent, boneheaded log; spit at Huo Gui Wang for shamelessly throwing herself at men; and storm away as loudly as she had entered, knocking over expensive china on the way. Good thing, she didn’t it.

Once Jin Tian kisses Huo Gui Wang at her request, she pins him down on bed and attacks his face with blood red lips! Unluckily for Jin Tian, no amount of pushing can get her off of him. Now this time, XueJian doesn’t need to see it to imagine what’s going on inside. Sour as an apple, she pouts her lips like a child whose prized marble has just been robbed from her. She lashes out on MaoMao. (Poor thing.)

After discussing amongst themselves, the five masters decide to lift the seal on ChangQing’s memories. Que sera, sera; they can’t shelter him forever.

Episode 15

In the fiery palace of eternal hell, the queen of the underworld extends her long and elegant finger to retrieve the smoldering Fire Pearl from the flame. Eying the delicate treasure with pleasure, Huo Gui Wang tosses her head back and lets out a long, self-satisfied laugh — this unremarkable sphere is the saintly object, whose power dutifully preserved her beauty for thousands of years.

The intrusion of a messenger puts an end to her self-admiration (thank goodness). Meet XiFeng, ChongLou’s personal messenger. He has come with the news that The Lord of the Demons will be arriving at the underworld shortly. ChongLou intends to take over the underworld during his stay. Huo Gui Wang’s job is to do nothing but to detain the two men on the scroll provided by XiFeng (Jin Tian and ChangQing) if she were to see them trespassing.

They are brought back to the Jiang Kingdom from a thousand years ago…

On the day the queen was to give birth, a star fell, bringing with it FeiPeng’s helmet. The helmet was retrieved and presented to the king. Then moments later, the prince was born, he was named LongYang.
