China’s Most Revered, Withdraws from Olympics

Liu Xiang, first Chinese track gold medalist and world record breaker, withdrew from the Olympics due to an lingering foot injury resulted from overuse. 😥

Disappointing moment. But whatever the reason, health always comes first. Hope he lets the burden and self-blame slide and recover soon.

PS: I’m glad his leg is insured, $13.3 million by Chinese company Ping An.

  1. So sorry for all those who looked forward to him. You could see the pain and agony on his face when he was going to go through with competing. Thankfully there was a false start, which gave him the opportunity to stop. Best wishes to him and the future he holds.
